Finecast’s Coastosaurus Plodders take on the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge 100km for charity

09 May 2025

MIA member Finecast Foundry has shared the following press release.

Finecast is proud to announce that its team, the Coastosaurus Plodders, will take part in the challenging Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge, walking 100 km in just 24 hours along one of the UK’s most breathtaking—yet relentlessly challenging—coastlines to raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Finecast is on a mission to raise at least £5,000 for the British Heart Foundation, a charity dedicated to fighting heart and circulatory diseases, responsible for 1 in 4 deaths in the UK. The BHF funds innovative research to prevent, diagnose, and treat these life-threatening conditions. With your support, future treatments and cures are closer than ever, funding breakthroughs that will save lives.

Every contribution counts—together, with your support, the Coastosaurus Plodders can help fund critical research and create a healthier future for millions. The team invites you to join them in making a difference by visiting their JustGiving page to contribute and help exceed their fundraising goal.

On 17–18 May 2025, the Coastosaurus Plodders will embark on their journey from Corfe Castle to Bridport, tackling 2,500 metres of elevation and rugged terrain. The stunning Jurassic Coast, famous for its dramatic cliffs and sweeping sea views, will serve as the backdrop as they take on relentless climbs and coastal trails.

Chris Heatley, CEO and Founder of Finecast, shared his personal motivation for the challenge:

“For the past four years, I’ve battled acute Bradycardia, which affected every part of my life. Thanks to the staff at University Hospitals Sussex and Southampton Hospital, I was given a second chance with the help of a pacemaker. The British Heart Foundation saved my life, and I’m committed to raising funds so others can benefit from the same life-saving research.”
The route will take the Coastosaurus Plodders through iconic locations like Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Weymouth, Portland Bill, and West Bay. As they tackle this ultra-tough challenge, they will remain focused on raising vital funds to help the BHF fund the next breakthrough in heart and circulatory disease research.

“We need your support to help us reach our £5,000 fundraising goal,” Heatley added. “Every donation, big or small, will make a difference and support the BHF’s life-saving work—funding research to better understand the heart and develop new treatments. Together, we can fund research that gives families today—and future generations—the best possible chance at a long and healthy life.”

Finecast has set up a JustGiving page where you can contribute to the cause. All donations go directly to the British Heart Foundation to help them save lives and improve heart health across the UK.
