Motorsport to Marine

 MIA Technology Programme Partner

Parallels between motorsport and marine industries are numerous, not least because both sectors are involved in sporting activities which serve as a proving ground for innovative new technologies.

An 'emission free' future for Marine

The UK marine industry faces a new challenge for an ‘emission free’ future - inland, inshore and offshore - from the Government’s Clean Air Strategy. Energy efficient motorsport (EEMS), the successful work of MIA members and our industry on low-emission powertrains, makes for a valuable collaboration.

The MIA and British Marine have partnered to bring our two communities together to share energy-efficient experiences and technical solutions - initially targeting inland and inshore coastal vessels.

British Marine have 1,600+ member companies from the Superyacht, Leisure Marine and Small Commercial Marine sectors – all will be affected.

In July 2019, Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) members and British Marine members met to discuss how the motorsport industry can collaborate with the marine industry to face the new challenge of designing new vessels to have zero emission capability by 2025.

2015 UK Marine Industries Roadmap

The UK Marine Industries Roadmap highlights significant opportunities for motorsport companies to apply their innovative capability into the marine sector, which is increasingly focused on addressing the challenge of vessel efficiency.
