PIV Testing with the Oldest Jaguar E-Type in Existence

19 December 2024

MIA Member Catesby Projects has shared the following news article.

PIV Testing with the Oldest Jaguar E-Type in Existence

The PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) Ring of Fire testing method involves a car driving through a gate of helium soap bubbles. Using a powerful laser and high speed cameras the changes in the position of the bubbles as the car passes through can be analysed to draw conclusions on the vehicle's wake.

The car in question for preliminary tests was the Jaguar E-Type 9600 HP, provided by Philip Porter of Porter Press International. The juxtaposition of tradition and innovation involved made this project truly special.
Catesby Projects also will be publishing conclusions form the results on their website shortly. In the meantime, enjoy the video !
