Motorsport industry celebrates excellence at the 2024 MIA Business Excellence Awards

The MIA’s annual Business Excellence Awards Dinner took place at the Silverstone Wing on Wednesday 16 October 2024.

The Awards closed the first day of MIA CTS24, the UK’s leading Motorsport Engineering & Technology Show, with 400 guests celebrating winners in seven categories at the Silverstone Wing.

 

The MIA Business of the Year Award (with annual sales over £5m) partnered by Xtrac, was presented to AP Racing.

AP Racing is the leading manufacturer of performance brake and clutch systems for motorsport, original equipment and performance aftermarket road car applications.

The UK based organisation is proud of its heritage and, over the last 50 years, has achieved unparalleled success, and presence, at all levels of international motorsport formulae.

 

The second MIA Business of the Year Award (with annual sales under £5m) partnered by Multimatic was presented to Autosport Bearings and Components.

Autosport Bearings and Components are a market leader in the supply of performance components and assemblies across all motorsport series and specialist automotive sectors.

They add value by being one of the world's largest component stockists and producers of bespoke bearing assemblies with leading technical support.

 

The MIA Teamwork Award partnered by Ridge, was presented to Hertz Team Jota.

One of the most successful of recent sports car teams, JOTA has an incredible track record particularly at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans where, over the past 12 years, they’ve achieved 13 podium finishes.

Founders, Sam Hignett and David Clark put JOTA’s success down to an ethos of outstanding teamwork. This fighting spirit was witnessed at this year’s Le Mans where, after crashing in practice, the team rebuilt their entire Porsche 963 car within 48 hours, did the shakedown runs on the local airfield and took their place on the starting grid in an incredible 8th place.

 

The MIA Technology & Innovation Award partnered by Ricardo, was presented to Fortescue Zero.

Part of Fortescue, the technology, energy and metals group which is rapidly accelerating the commercial decarbonisation of industry globally. Fortescue Zero is the green technology and engineering services business, creating solutions required to enable a zero emissions future.

Operating across a wide range of sectors including automotive and motorsports, aerospace, defence and off-highway they are working in close collaboration with customers and partners to find solutions to key engineering challenges associated with decarbonisation.

 

The MIA Export Achievement Award partnered by Lifeline Fire & Safety Systems, was presented to Alcon Components.

A global leader in the design, development and manufacture of high-performance brake, clutch and actuation systems Alcon have increased their export revenues from the USA, Europe and Asia by 60% in recent years.

With over 40 years, pushing the limits in F1, NASCAR, GT Racing, World Rally, and Touring Cars, Alcon is the go-to brake manufacturer for cutting-edge performance.

 

The MIA New Markets Award partnered by Shiftec was presented to Hypermotive.

Hypermotive are focused on the design, manufacture and integration of electrical systems for the high-performance and motorsport sectors. Their products include wiring harnesses, PDUs, DC-DC, trackside power, and full vehicle electrical systems design.

More recently, Hypermotive have successfully entered the rail, aerospace and marine sectors delivering e-mobility and hydrogen technologies.

 

The MIA Service to the Industry Award partnered by Grant Thornton was presented to Global Logistics Management.

For nearly twenty years, Global Logistics Management has created bespoke logistics programmes for global marketing campaigns and provided customs support for UK exporters.

Their varied client base includes Shell, McLaren, the Football Association, Xtrac and Aston Martin.

“The MIA Business Awards allows us to collaboratively recognise and reward those who have made significant contributions to our industry and the calibre of both our winners and nominees this year is a great example of the high levels of excellence that continues to be reached by our members year on year.”
