Fortescue announces official re-brand of WAE to Fortescue Zero

On 22nd May 2024 more than 700 colleagues joined senior leadership and Board members at Fortescue’s UK HQ in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, to witness the official re-branding of WAE (Williams Advanced Engineering) to Fortescue Zero.

Part of the Fortescue family, WAE is a world-leading technology and engineering business renowned for its ground-breaking projects in high performance battery systems, electrification and zero-emissions technology.

The re-brand of WAE to Fortescue Zero puts technical excellence and innovation at the very heart of Fortescue as a whole, emphasising the businesses’ ambition to become a zero emissions operator by 2030 and fully eradicating its use of fossil fuels.

Fortescue Zero will create the solutions required to drive a zero emissions future, with some of these on show at the Power of Now investors day held at Kidlington HQ, 24th May. More than 50 investors and partners were invited to Fortescue Zero to experience first-hand, the innovative technologies being delivered to support the drive to zero emissions.

Fortescue Zero presented showcases of its ground-breaking technology including Green Pioneer (the world’s first duel-fuelled ammonia vessel to achieve flag and class approval from the Singapore Registry of Ships, with an emissions footprint that is 90% lower than comparable fossil fuel competitors), the zero-emission ‘Infinity Train’, Formula E engineering and the all-electric mine haul truck, which guests were able to ‘drive’ via a VR headset.

Aligned to the event, Fortescue Zero announced a new partnership with JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) to use Fortescue Zero’s Battery Intelligence Software “Elysia” on all electric vehicles starting with the new Land Rover fleet later this year.
