.
This Regulation introduces new requirements in terms of sustainability, safety, and information for placing on the market or putting into service all types of batteries, from the general use portable batteries to industrial ones, including batteries for all kinds of electrified vehicles.

Applicable from the February 18th, 2024, this Regulation requires improvements in various aspects, such as carbon footprint, active materials recovery, performance, durability, removability, replaceability, waste battery collection, recycling efficiency, and due diligence across the supply chain. To enhance transparency, a battery passport accessible via a QR code on each battery will provide this information to the public.
