James Grainger appointed MIA Chairman

09 August 2023

James Grainger, former Chief Executive Officer of the Grainger & Worrall group, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) following its re-cent AGM. Throughout his career, James has worked extensively with the worldwide motor-sport and automotive industry, engaging with many global brands.

“I am honoured to be Chairman of such a well-respected trade body as the MIA, within an industry sector I have operated in all my working life. It is no coincidence that since my for-mer company Grainger & Worrall joined the MIA, it grew from a team of 200 people to 750 people - this is the power of the MIA network.  I now look forward to working with the Execu-tive Committee, and the endlessly energetic and capable MIA team, to support all members of the MIA in ensuring their businesses grow and flourish,” said James Grainger.

Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA said “James’ business acumen will be a valuable asset to the MIA as it complements the current MIA Executive Committee and our team. We aim to help our members to grow their motorsport and high-performance engineering businesses across the world so his international contacts and his enthusiasm will be invaluable.”

James led Grainger and Worrall to become market leaders in the field of prototype, and small series, complex high integrity structural castings. They currently work with a diverse range of industries including automotive, commercial vehicles motorsport, aerospace and defence. To pursue other interests, he recently successfully effected a sale of the business to a manage-ment buyout team.
