Max Mosley 1940- 2021

With great sadness we share the news that Max Mosley, an exceptionally influential figure in the business of motorsport and Formula One and a good friend to the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) for many years, has passed away.

Max was President of the FIA for 16 years and, with Bernie Ecclestone, formed an unbeatable partnership which successfully built the foundations of today’s hugely popular Formula One World Championship.

“To meet Max and discuss motorsport with him was, for anyone, always memorable ” says Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA. “Those who witnessed my interview with him at Williams F1 HQ, in November 2010, will support this. His quick wit, clarity of thought, exceptional intelligence and entertaining insights into the world of F1 kept the audience enthralled”

His leadership on safety in motorsport and automotive, was outstanding. The current safety record in F1, seen most recently in the Grosjean fiery accident in Bahrain, is his legacy that will be remembered. Max will be sorely missed by many in the world of motorsport.
