Second Edition of the Hydrogen for Sustainable Mobility Forum Taking Place in Torino
Convergent Science and the SAE International Torino Section are jointly hosting the second edition of the Hydrogen for Sustainable Mobility Forum, taking place at the Politecnico di Torino – Energy Center on March 11–12, 2025. This two-day event will focus on the potential of green hydrogen as a fuel for sustainable transportation systems. The forum, which is sponsored by Unione Industriali Torino and Dumarey Automotive Italia, will feature technical presentations on the development of innovative hydrogen technologies. Attendees will learn about the research activities underway in academia and industry from prominent organizations, both in the Turin area and around the globe.
On the first day of the forum, March 11, Convergent Science will host the CONVERGE Application Workshop, an event focused on the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modeling of hydrogen engines, fuel cells, and storage systems. Industry leaders and academic professionals from organizations such as Schaeffler Technologies, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, IFP Energies nouvelles, and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia will present their latest hydrogen CFD research. The day will be capped off with presentations from Convergent Science engineers, who will demonstrate how CONVERGE can help overcome the unique challenges of hydrogen modeling. “Hydrogen is quickly becoming a vital player in the renewable energy landscape, as it offers a greener solution for many industries, including transportation and energy. Accurate hydrogen modeling is crucial for optimizing production, distribution, and infrastructure, ensuring its efficient and safe integration into the global energy transition,” says Rainer Rothbauer, general manager of Convergent Science GmbH, the company’s European branch. “CONVERGE is a CFD solver that is capable of handling the complex physics involved in hydrogen modeling, such as high-speed gas jets, fuel-air mixing, combustion, and shock waves.”   Day 2 of the Hydrogen for Sustainable Mobility Forum will feature the 2nd International Workshop “H24ICE: Hydrogen as a Fuel for Internal Combustion Engines,” which is organized  by the SAE International Torino Section. This event will open with a keynote address from Kelly Senecal, co-founder and vice president of Convergent Science. Following this speech, a series of business-focused talks and technical presentations from leading industry experts will provide valuable insights on hydrogen engines for market segments such as racing, high-performance applications, heavy-duty vehicles, and off-road transportation.
