  POSITION NAME Electrical Lead Engineer
 REPORTING TO 	 Head of Engineering
  LOCATION  Belper, Derbyshire, UK
 
  ROLE PROFILE
  The Opportunity
  The purpose of this role is to lead design, development, testing and introduction of new electrical and electronic components or commodities. The role requires the individual to deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time and lead on the technical content and integrity of specific components and systems across all programmes, both current and future. 	 Key Performance Indicators
  •	Development and delivery of the engineering solutions to meet the defined customer 	requirements •	Manage the design, development and testing activity to minimise the project duration •	Responsible for the technical details ensuring they are accurate and aligned to the 	customer needs •	Adherence to the overall technical approach •	Project delivery status on time to programme needs
  Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  •	Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time. •	Manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in 	support of delivery of the programme milestones •	Manage component and vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and 	development stages through to sign off and support rectification of issues •	Ensure all appropriate standards are met through-out design maturation •	Ensure all programme design solutions meet: •	Programme targets for cost and weight •	Legal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification documentation •	Keep all documentation up to date including: •	Meeting minutes •	Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job 	as may be requested •	Development of vehicle electronic hardware systems / architecture. •	Use of Jaguar Land Rover electronics hardware and software, interfacing with 3rd party 	vehicle controllers, developing and using Bowler CAN based software and any future 	alternative.  •	Support vehicle builds and issue resolution using suitable diagnostics tools, e.g. CAN 	based. This will include support for offsite demonstrations / race events supporting 	remotely or on site as needed.  •	Oversee development of wiring / harness specifications and develop the associated 	vehicle wiring schematics and harness diagrams.  •	Identify and meet the requirements of the new generation electrical and powertrain 	systems.  •	Provide support across all areas of vehicle electrical systems where required

  •	The key areas of interaction will be the Head of Engineering, the Engineering, 	Manufacturing and Design teams
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 
  Essential:
  •	Be able to read and clear fault codes from all ECU's •	Be able to re-flash All ECU's on the vehicle •	Configure and Download data from the Vehicle dataloggers •	Develop the Bosch PBM and MOTEC software including the  Motec Dash Manager and 	Display Creator Software. •	Take CAN logs and be able to Analyse data.  •	Knowledge of programming / diagnostics tools such as ASL, CANalyser, VeSys & 	RaptorCal and support for coding / Matlab. •	Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues 	within a Project Team environment •	Previous experience delivering automotive components. •	A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product 	definition and change management processes  •	Previous programme delivery experience, with influencing and engagement skills •	Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
  Desirable:
  •	Experience of concept generation and cross functionality problem resolution •	Knowledge and understanding of specific car components, or systems and sub-systems •	Working knowledge of project management skills  •	Experience of delivering and developing technical products
