Charlie Whiting (1952 - 2019)

Following the sad news of Charlie Whiting's passing, a personal statement from Chris Aylett, CEO of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) today.

"The unexpected passing of Charlie is a truly sad day for motorsport and F1, in particular. Charlie was an exceptional person who, for decades, earned and held his own place with humour, charm and dignity, within one of the most competitive and hostile sport and business environments in the world. It was a genuine privilege to have known him for many of those years. 

He was a true gentleman whose personal and professional standards were admired by all and he will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."
