Effortlessly adapting to a variety of driving environments, the RML GT Hypercar preserves the base car’s already refianed ride quality—further elevated through extensive chassis and suspension tuning. Every component has been meticulously engineered to deliver a perfect balance of comfort, control, and dynamic feedback, ensuring the GT Hypercar feels as intuitive on a city street as it does on a challenging mountain pass.

On track performance

The RML GT Hypercar transforms the moment it reaches the racetrack, becoming sharper, more animated, and relentlessly focused.

Active front and rear aerodynamics, including a driver-activated Drag Reduction System (DRS), instantly dial the GT Hypercar into full attack mode, delivering razor-sharp responsiveness. In its lowest suspension setting, the GT Hypercar generates more downforce than a Porsche 992 GT3 RS, ensuring maximum grip and stability through every corner.

Handling precision is further enhanced by race-spec lightweight wheels; 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear, designed to optimise agility and control. Power delivery is sharpened by a meticulously tuned Inconel exhaust system, with additional performance available through optional engine upgrade packages.

Combined with its meticulously developed chassis and suspension, the GT Hypercar redefines what a high-performance GT car can achieve on track.

Powertrain

In collaboration with UK-based Litchfield Motors, our engineers have developed a bespoke powertrain that perfectly balances the GT Hypercar’s effortless road manners with staggering, on-demand track performance.

Three selectable power modes are available via the steering wheel-mounted mode switch:

• Wet: A softer power curve delivering around 600hp for low-grip conditions.
• Normal: Increased output to 750hp with a more progressive throttle response for dynamic road driving.
• Sport/Sport+: Track-focused settings unleashing 920hp and 705lb ft of torque, offering Hypercar-level performance with razor-sharp throttle precision.

The GT Hypercar’s upgraded powertrain components are unique to the car. While building upon Litchfield’s extensive experience with the 992 Turbo S, the GT Hypercar project allowed complete freedom to move beyond OEM constraints - resulting in a bespoke, high-performance package tailored exclusively for our ultimate GT.

Aerodynamics

With a completely new carbon fibre skin, the RML GT Hypercar achieves exceptional aerodynamic performance - producing 5,100N of downforce in Road mode and over 6,500N in Track mode at 150mph. That’s more than four times the downforce generated by a standard Porsche 992 Turbo S.

This dramatic leap is the result of a carefully integrated suite of active and passive aerodynamic systems, developed to enhance high-speed performance without compromising everyday usability.

At the core of the system are two major active devices:

Active Rear Wing: This dual-element wing adjusts automatically based on the selected drive mode. In Road mode, the secondary element retracts flush to preserve a clean airflow profile. In Track mode, it deploys and increases its angle of attack, opening a slot gap that increases rear wing downforce by 24%. A driver-activated Drag Reduction System (DRS) reduces drag by a further 23% to maximise straight-line performance.

Nashville, USA: Cosworth, the pioneering high-performance technology and engineering company, has entered into a landmark partnership with iRacing, the global leader in online motorsport simulation. The agreement sees Cosworth appointed as an official data analysis partner of iRacing, bringing its world-renowned Pi Toolbox software to a global community of more than 350,000 active sim racers.

As part of the multi-year agreement, iRacing will launch several branded competitive series within the iRacing ecosystem, including the ‘Cosworth Cup’ featuring the sim’s top-tier open-wheel cars, and an all-new series within the new iRacing Arcade sphere, which will connect the next generation of drivers and fans.

A standout feature launching later in 2025 is live remote telemetry support using the Pi Toolbox solution – a first for sim racing. MAHLE Brings E-Compressor Production to the USA

German automotive supplier MAHLE is bringing the production of e-compressors to the United States of America. At its Morristown/Tennessee location which has been producing steel pistons for several decades, nearly 50 new employees will be manufacturing state-of-the-art e-compressors for the North American market. E-compressors are important for the thermal management in electric vehicles and crucial for battery life, high charging speed and driving range. In this respect, the company will be running production for both internal combustion engines (ICE) and electrification applications at one location. This decision represents MAHLE’s strong commitment to the US market as well as for the Morristown production site.

“Starting the e-compressor production in Morristown, Tennessee, marks an important milestone for MAHLE as we further strengthen our footprint in the USA and our role as local employer,” said Arnd Franz, Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of MAHLE. “This extension is a great example of successfully transforming a production plant formerly fully dedicated to internal combustion engines by launching electrification products for future mobility – a clear investment in the plant’s future.”

MAHLE’s long history of success in aluminum piston production for internal combustion engines began over a hundred years ago. In 1978, the Morristown plant became the first greenfield manufacturing facility for MAHLE in North America, today manufacturing steel pistons for all major American light and heavy duty commercial vehicles, and high-performance aluminum pistons for motorsport. With the installation of a brand-new production line for e-compressors at the site, employment will increase to almost 800, representing another important step toward shaping the future of mobility. Over the past five years in the state of Tennessee alone, MAHLE created more than 300 new jobs in Murfreesboro to manufacture thermal management products.

MAHLE operates 15 locations across the USA with the North American headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan. In 2024, the US headcount totaled nearly 5,000. MAHLE plans to increase its presence and activities in the USA in the coming years as part of the group’s stragegy to manufacture world class products for vehicles “Made in America”.

Natural Fibre Composite Bodywork for Team Tras Power 135 TRD Hilux

Team Tras Power 135 TRD Hilux competes this week in the 2025 Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) in Thailand. This is the fourth challenge for the team, with this year’s drivers being Masanao Nitta and Takayuki Monma.

The natural fibre bodywork of the rally car holds up incredibly well and manages to withstand the challenging and rough conditions during the tough racing where human and machine are pushed to the limits. This year, the team has decided to renew its vehicle by having a natural-coloured visible designed flax-based bodywork.

Before the rally, driver & Tras CEO Masanao Nitta commented: “This year, a new natural coloured natural fibre Bcomp body will be implemented into the bodywork of the vehicle. Based on the positive experience of the last years, we have confidence in the natural fibres and have applied new finishes of the bodywork. The AXCR 2025 will again be a long-distance rally with extreme road conditions, so car maintenance and care by the TRD crew will be key. The team will work together to reach this goal with Tras Power 135 TRD Hilux.”

The Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) 2025 is the 30th edition of the largest FIA-certified cross-country rally in Asia. Held annually since 1996, it tests driving skills, navigation, endurance, and vehicle durability across diverse terrains like jungles, swamps, river crossings, and mountains. The 2025 event is set to be particularly grueling, with an extended eight-day course covering approximately 2,500 km, starting on August 8 and ending on August 16, 2025.

Mr. Nitta is the founder and CEO of the Japanese Advanced Composite Materials Specialist company Tras Ltd. and is an experienced driver. For the AXCR, Tras developed a unique natural fibre composite body for the 2025 Toyota HiLux GR Sport Australia-Specific Design.

Strategic Investment and Partnership Launches New Era of Growth Across INDYCAR that Includes a Multiyear Extension of INDYCAR’s Media Rights with FOX Sports

Penske Entertainment and Fox Corporation ("FOX" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: FOXA, FOX), the parent company of FOX Sports, announced July 31 an investment in the future of North America’s premier open-wheel racing series, with FOX’s acquisition of a one-third interest in Penske Entertainment, inclusive of INDYCAR and the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

So far, the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season is averaging a 31 percent increase in viewership year-over-year.

WSR announce exciting GT racing plans for 2026

West Surrey Racing, which has had an impressive record of success in Formula 3 (with five titles between 1981 and 1991) and then becoming the most successful team in the history of the British Touring Car Championship, with 18 championship titles, is planning to expand into GT racing in 2026.

Reigning British Touring Car Champions WSR today (Thursday, 7 August) announce plans to enter high-level GT racing in 2026.

This new venture will bring WSR into GT competition for the first time and will run alongside the team’s BTCC programme, which has resulted in 18 overall titles since 2009.

It also provides opportunities for new drivers to join a list of WSR alumni that includes Jonathan Palmer, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, Nigel Mansell, Rubens Barrichello, Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish, Andy Priaulx, Colin Turkington and Jake Hill.

GT3 and GT4 categories in series such as British GT, GT World Challenge Europe, the 24H Series and GT4 European Series are currently being evaluated. Single-make categories for GT machinery are also being considered.

Miniature Pressure Scanner Brings Smarter Sensing to Real-World Engineering

Scanivalve has developed the MPS4264 Miniature Pressure Scanner, a compact, intelligent pressure measurement system engineered to deliver high-accuracy data in real time. Designed for use in demanding environments such as aerospace testing, automotive development, HVAC systems, and industrial R&D, the MPS4264 integrates advanced signal processing capabilities directly within the unit.

Unlike conventional pressure scanning systems that require external signal conditioning or post-processing, the MPS4264 performs onboard conversion of raw sensor data into calibrated engineering units—including pressure (Pa, psi, bar) and temperature-compensated outputs—enabling direct integration with DAQ systems or control units without intermediate data handling.

The pressure scanner incorporates internal calibration and thermal compensation algorithms, contributing to improved measurement accuracy and repeatability across varying operating conditions. Speedworks Motorsport, the team behind the factory TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK BTCC campaign, is proud to announce the launch of its Fiesta Junior Championship Programme.

The new initiative will be driven by the launch of the Rising Stars development programme – a structured pathway designed to identify, nurture, and prepare talented young drivers for the pinnacle of UK motorsport.

From 2026, Speedworks will field up to four cars in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, operating as the BTCC’s official junior team. This groundbreaking project will give aspiring drivers aged 14–17 the chance to learn their craft in a highly competitive environment while benefitting from the knowledge, experience, and resources of a front-running BTCC & GT outfit.

The programme goes beyond the race weekends, offering a full-circle development experience. Drivers and their families will receive guidance on motorsport career planning, sponsor acquisition, and off-season development. Support includes sim racing integration, help balancing school commitments, and assistance in building professional driver portfolios. Participants will gain access to BTCC-grade data analysis, coaching, and engineering support, plus integration into team testing days, simulator sessions, and selected BTCC weekend activities. Structured training will cover racecraft, fitness, media handling, and car setup knowledge — all under the mentorship of current factory BTCC drivers.

Xtrac to supply new transmission system for next generation LMP2 powertrain

Xtrac is pleased to announce we are the official transmission technology partner in the development of the next-generation LMP2 powertrain, set to power endurance racing cars in the category from 2028 through to 2032.

The new powertrain, led by Gibson Technology, will incorporate a newly developed transverse gearbox engineered and manufactured by Xtrac. The new transmission system will be delivered as a complete assembly, including bellhousing and gearshift mechatronic system, with a focus on delivering enhanced durability and consistent performance while reducing long-term operating costs for LMP2 teams.

The transmission system will form a critical component of the all-new 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 engine developed in collaboration between Gibson Technology and NISSAN / NISMO. The engine package is designed to bring together the latest automotive technologies with bespoke motorsport engineering, aiming to set new standards in reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.

MAHLE goes full speed ahead with decarbonization

Technology diversity is and remains the strategic approach of MAHLE and the most promising way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions rapidly and effectively. In view of the sluggish ramp-up of e-mobility, MAHLE considers that it is necessary to offer other types of electrification such as hybrid vehicles or range extenders in addition to pure battery-electric vehicles and for politicians to make these options possible. At the MAHLE Tech Day in Stuttgart, CEO Arnd Franz called for the rapid revision of carbon dioxide legislation in Europe to take into account sustainable internal combustion engines and climate-neutral fuels. “As a supplier, we need technology neutrality in legislation. So that we can make rapid progress with climate protection. So that the expertise and innovative strength of the European automotive industry can continue to flourish in Europe. So that jobs remain in Europe and Europe’s economy can recover its old strength.” In a volatile and extremely challenging business environment, the automotive supplier is focusing even more strongly on efficiency improvements – not only with respect to its products but also in its business processes with a view to further strengthening its competitiveness and resilience. At IAA Mobility in Munich, MAHLE is showcasing technologies for accelerating electrification and reducing CO2 emissions in road traffic. IAA Mobility is being held from September 9 to 14, 2025, and the MAHLE stand is located in Hall A1.

Technology neutrality to reduce CO2 emissions and boost the economy

“We have a clear commitment to climate protection. And to e-mobility. We are ready,” Arnd Franz told an audience of international journalists on Wednesday. In addition to products for pure e-mobility, MAHLE is also focusing its efforts on hybrid vehicles and advanced range extenders to boost the ranges of electric vehicles and to make it easier for customers to change over from pure ICE vehicles. Especially China is currently recording strong growth in these electric drive systems. It is forecast that the share of electric vehicles with range extenders in worldwide production of electrified passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will grow by 15 percent per year up to 2030. MAHLE intends to share in this growth.

The MAHLE CEO also mentioned the high decarbonization potential of renewable fuels, which is not yet being fully tapped. “Any plan for rapid and effective climate protection in road traffic is incomplete without renewable fuels. In addition to hydrogen, especially in the transport sector, biofuels can make an effective contribution to individual mobility,” he emphasized. He added that this would allow more rapid progress, especially with respect to the vehicle fleet. The share of renewable fuels, i.e. biofuels and synthetic fuels, used in road traffic would need to rise to 30 percent by 2030 in order to reach the climate goals. “MAHLE technologies already allow the direct use of renewable fuels without any compromises.”

Franz said that Europe was facing a crucial decision for the future with respect to CO2 emissions regulations. “The revision of CO2 legislation in Europe must not be delayed. Internal combustion engines operated using climate-neutral fuels must be recognized as part of the solution.“ In the present regulatory situation, he said that MAHLE as a company was forced to consider a stop of all investments for the expansion and replacement of capacities for sustainable internal combustion engines in Europe. If the EU was not prepared to change its position with regard to a ban on ICE vehicles, such an investment stop would be the logical consequence.

With its MAHLE 2030+ strategy, MAHLE, as a globally active automotive supplier, covers all types of powertrain which can make a key contribution to climate protection: electrification and sustainable internal combustion engines as well as thermal management to boost the efficiency and performance of the two technologies.

Efficiency drives the transformation

In a challenging business environment where trade relations face global uncertainties, MAHLE is increasingly committed to efficiency in connection with the current transition. This also applies to its processes, with a view to enhancing its competitiveness and becoming more crisis-proof.

An example of successful efficiency measures is the new company structure that MAHLE has recently implemented throughout the world from its own resources in only 200 days. This also included the repositioning of purchasing and the strengthening of regional responsibilities with a view to reacting more effectively to customers’ local requirements. The group’s internal cost effectiveness and profitability program “Back on Track 2025” continues to run at full speed. The plants are also working consistently on efficiency improvements. This approach includes initiatives to reduce energy consumption such as the shut-off management of production equipment or the installation of photovoltaic thermal systems.

MAHLE is also expanding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the company. The use of machine learning in selected areas optimizes both direct production and indirect processes. Furthermore, generative AI is being put to successful use in product development in order to save time and resources in the development of future-oriented innovations. The most recent development example is the bionic radial blower for air conditioning systems – inspired by a penguin’s flippers – which MAHLE will be showcasing at IAA Mobility.

Under the motto of “Efficiency3”, MAHLE is presenting the latest developments in its three strategic areas at this year’s IAA Mobility in Munich: a range extender to boost the range of electric vehicles, a compact thermal management module with integrated heat pump to significantly extend the range of electric vehicles and ethanol-compatible engine components which will considerably reduce both the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions of internal combustion engines.

Dr. Marco Warth, Vice President Corporate Research and Advanced Engineering at MAHLE, said: “At MAHLE, we not only define efficiency as the optimum relationship between effort and results – we also breathe life into this principle with innovative solutions that conserve resources, save energy and boost the transition to sustainable mobility.”

Range extender system ensures progress with battery-electric vehicles

Many car drivers have a positive attitude to e-mobility. However, it has become clear that they wish to combine the benefits of an electric car with the security offered by additional range. Electric vehicles with range extenders can therefore help to further accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by relieving consumers’ range anxiety. Range extenders supply energy for the electric motor when the charge of the vehicle battery has been depleted.

The new range extender from MAHLE, which is being showcased for the first time at IAA Mobility, will increase the market acceptance of battery-electric vehicles throughout the world and allow the cost-effective, resource-efficient “rightsizing” of batteries without customers having to accept long waits at battery charging stations on long trips.

The new system, with a rated continuous output of 85 kilowatts (kW), consists of an especially efficient high-voltage generator powered by a compact internal combustion engine. The heart of the 800 V generator is a permanently excited electric generator with a fully integrated cooling system. In addition to a high peak efficiency in excess of 97 percent, this design ensures a high continuous performance density (in excess of 50 kW per liter), minimizing material and space requirements as well as costs. One of the special features of the MAHLE design is the high-performance direct cooling of the rotor, which significantly reduces the need for heavy rare earth elements, among other benefits.

The boosted high-tech internal combustion engine used in the range extender features MAHLE jet ignition combustion technology, direct injection, turbocharging and Miller valve timing, i.e. the special control of the intake valves of an internal combustion engine to allow more efficient combustion and ensure lower pollutant emissions. In range extender operation, the engine offers a high efficiency of more than 42 percent and its noise level is inconspicuous.

“It is small, lightweight, easy to integrate and conserves resources – MAHLE’s range extender is a convincingly compact, efficient power pack for drive systems,” said Warth. The technology toolkit for range extender engines is also supplemented by specially developed engine components such as pistons and valves. In the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure), enormous ranges of up to 1,350 km can be achieved, depending on the vehicle and the battery size.

Thermal management module boosts efficiency and range

MAHLE has developed a new thermal management module that boosts the system efficiency of an electric vehicle and therefore also the range available with a battery charge. MAHLE is showcasing the product as a world premiere at IAA Mobility. As the central interface for the entire cooling and refrigerant cycle of the vehicle it ensures that each component of the drive and energy storage system is maintained at the right temperature at all times under all climate conditions at the same time as ensuring a comfortable climate in the passenger compartment.

Especially heating the passenger compartment in the winter is a challenge with electric vehicles. As an electric drive system generates significantly less heat than an internal combustion engine, very little energy from this source is available for heating. The heat required for the passenger compartment must be generated in addition to the operation of the drive system. High efficiency is essential as the energy storage facility of the vehicle is the traction battery. Energy used for heating is not available for propulsion.

To ensure maximum range per battery charge even when heating is needed in the winter, MAHLE has integrated a high-efficiency heat pump in the thermal management module. The module combines air conditioning compressor, heat exchanger, refrigerant pumps, sensors and valves in a single unit. This reduces space requirements, development work and costs. In addition, the overall system is considerably more efficient, allowing the range to be boosted by up to 20 percent compared with a system using electric heaters.

“The advantage of MAHLE in our competitive environment is our comprehensive components and systems expertise developed through our in-house development and production activities. This way, we can offer holistic solutions which are perfectly harmonized with each other,” said Marco Warth.

The module is designed for R1234yf, the refrigerant currently used, but can also be operated with the alternative future refrigerant R290 (propane) with minor modifications. “This provides automakers with security for the future when integrating the system in current vehicle platforms as extensive design modifications will not be needed to change the system over to the new refrigerant,” Warth explained. Thanks to the modular, compact system design, only three refrigerant pumps instead of four will be needed for the vehicle. The system is currently being developed and series production will start within the next two years.

Bionic radial blower – form follows nature

At IAA Mobility, MAHLE is showcasing as a European premiere a ground-breaking radial blower for automotive air conditioning systems that boosts efficiency at the same time as significantly reducing noise levels. This product has been developed especially for vehicles with challenging installation space conditions and takes nature as its model. The aerodynamic shape of the blower blades is inspired by the flippers of a penguin, which glides nimbly and rapidly through the water.

Thanks to its innovative design, the bionic blower is four decibels (dB) or 60 percent quieter than a conventional component. At the same time, its efficiency is improved by about 15 percent as the motor requires less energy as a result of the optimized design. MAHLE is setting new standards with this innovative design. The bionic radial blower can be used in all types of passenger cars as well as light and heavy commercial vehicles.

The development process was considerably accelerated by the use of an in-house AI tool and the first prototypes were produced within a very short space of time. The engineers at MAHLE call this process, in which they guide the AI system and feed it with data and information, “superhuman engineering”. This process created more than 30 million virtual designs in a very short space of time.

Ethanol engine – MAHLE is ready for sustainable fuels

MAHLE underscores its technology diversity in the drive system sector with components for internal combustion engines that can be operated on renewable fuels. Life cycle analyses have shown that carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by up to 70 percent in operation on pure ethanol (E100).

With a new system consisting of pistons, piston pins and rings, called a “power cell unit”, as well as valve sets, MAHLE has taken into consideration the special requirements for ethanol operation. The optimization of components within the overall system ensures minimum lubricating oil consumption with high resistance to wear, corrosion and thermal stress. The benefits are lower greenhouse gas emissions and the conservation of valuable resources. In addition, the power cell unit allows fuel savings of up to 1.5 percent. This convincingly demonstrates that there is still potential for improvement even after more than 100 years of engine development and that CO2 savings can be achieved.

Hypermotive catapulted into manufacturing scale-up!

Hypermotive (HM) are delighted to announce the award of a place on the start-up to scale-up pilot programme. The programme offers packages of support from The High Value Manufacturing Catapult centres for UK automotive innovators, helping them create solid production scale-up plans, reducing risk and investment.

As part of the pilot programme Hypermotive has secured up to £200,000 of funded support to help them scale up their manufacturing capability and capacity.

The programme provides Hypermotive with access to the MTC – Manufacturing Technology Centre team of manufacturing experts and their world-class tools, processes and facilities. The focus of the programme is to support Hypermotive’s growth and scale-up in the manufacturing of advanced high voltage power electronics (DC-DC) and power distribution (PDU). Hypermotive will be accessing support from MTC to improve production planning, design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA), process development, QA/QC, supply chain development, and upskilling of the manufacturing team.

MTC is also helping Hypermotive with scenario planning, facility layout and capital investment decisions to accelerate Hypermotive plans for manufacturing facilities and capacity expansion.

The six month programme coincides with Hypermotive ramping production volumes on a number of automotive tier 1 manufacturing programmes for high-performance PDU and DC-DC products plus the launch into production of their own fuel cell integration products including H-Store® (hydrogen systems controller), H-Interface® (fuel cell systems interface) and H-Filter® (Single and three-phase EMC filter).

The programme will strengthen the UK’s electrification supply chain and reinforce Hypermotive’s position as the go-to tier 1 for e-mobility sectors and help deliver electrification and hydrogen integration and power system technologies at the forefront of technology.
