AP Racing - unique range of racecar and road products to be showcased at PRI
05 November 2019
World-renowned performance brake and clutch system manufacturer, AP Racing, will showcase its acclaimed range of racecar and road products at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis from 12-14 December 2019.
Visitors to booth 4815 will have the opportunity to view AP Racing’s range of braking products developed for NASCAR and its bespoke clutch and braking range for Formula 1, where eight teams are using AP Racing products this season.
Also on display will be AP Racing’s brand new forged GT3 front and rear calipers. Weighing just 3kg, these products have been designed with a fixed bridge rather than a bolted bridge, in response to current GT race regulations with minimum pit stop times for endurance races, meaning teams often elect to change the whole braking package during a pit stop. Pad loading has also been enhanced for more even pressure distribution. The package envelopes are identical to previous versions, meaning no modifications are required to customer uprights or wheels. The calipers have been created using near-net handed forgings, reducing cycle times and creating pocketing around the piston housing with slots for further weight reduction and cooling.
AP Racing’s new concentric band lightweight clutch, making its show debut at PRI, boasts a highly innovative design with a cover mass below 400g giving a total weight reduction of 12 per cent and stiffness increases of up to 50 per cent compared with current I-Drive assemblies. It is interchangeable with all current AP Racing I-Drive assemblies and uses a highly innovative high-temperature diaphragm spring. Joining the clutch will be a newly developed sliding modular pedal box offering significant improvements over previous designs.
Manufactured using the same patented design philosophy as the company’s hugely successful World Radi-CALTM R range, AP Racing’s World Mono R road monobloc calipers offer enhanced rigidity and cooling characteristics to suit multiple platforms and applications. The range incorporates all characteristics demanded by the road market including dirt seals, an attractive finish and noise abatement features. Six-piston products are now available with four-piston calipers shortly to be added to the line-up.
Finally, also on show will be bespoke calipers designed and manufactured by AP Racing for the Bugatti Chiron, demonstrating the company’s prowess in high-specification OEM roadcar systems.
Steve Hood, technical sales manager USA at AP Racing, explained: “The PRI show brings together key decision-makers from across the world to view the latest innovations in racing products and race engineering. As is always the case at AP Racing, innovation continues apace and we look forward to sharing some of our latest developments with event visitors. Our emphasis on ‘race to road technology’ means that road customers benefit from the same levels of quality, materials and design as the race sector.”
